If you’re a qualified nurse or midwife looking for a more flexible working pattern, why not join our staff bank?
What we can offer you
If you are a qualified nurse or midwife looking for employment with us but on a more flexible basis you could join our staff bank.
This may fit in better with the hours and days that suit you, with flexibility in working patterns, days and hours.
In return for your skills and experience we can offer you professional development through training and the variety of working across the majority of wards and departments of our trust, including community, dental and specialist services.
The staff bank provides a support service 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
Your employment on the staff bank is on an ‘as required’ basis as no guarantee of regular work can be given. However, we are especially interested in hearing from registered nurses who would like to work weekends, evenings and night shifts.
What we expect from you
You will need to have the appropriate qualifications and experience to join the staff bank. An example of the roles that we offer and what is required is below:
HCA (band 2)
An ability to undertake basic nursing duties with experience of working in a nursing type role within a nursing home or similar is essential as well as an ability to be flexible and adaptable together with a good understanding of confidentiality and professionalism. Ideally you will have experience of working within an acute trust.
You will be required to provide evidence of length of training and competencies in total patient care, documentation, and some clinical skills in addition to the skills required of a Health Care Assistant. If you are able to demonstrate these qualities you will be paid as a band 2.
Registered nurse (band 5) and registered midwife and specialist nurses (band 6)
Current NMC registration is essential with 6 months relevant experience. You will be flexible and adaptable together with a good understanding of accountability and professional code of conduct. You should be able to demonstrate at interview, a good understanding of the qualities needed to plan and deliver patient care within a multi-disciplinary team.
Applying for the staff bank
All posts are advertised on NHS Jobs here. If shortlisted you will be sent an interview date within 2-3 weeks.
Once you are on the staff bank you let us know your availability through an online system (accessible from home) on a weekly basis. The team will then allocate work throughout the week based on skills, experience and your site preference. It is entirely up to you whether you want to work the shifts allocated to you.
