2014 – Supporting from afar

When we aren’t visiting in person, our partnership work continues from home and one way we provide support from afar is by sourcing and shipping much needed resources and equipment to support the continuation of project work and the development of the hospital.

KCMC works incredibly hard to be able to maintain and deliver the healthcare services it provides and we’re delighted that through our partnership work, we have been able to enhance their services and facilities through donations of equipment and supplies – with thanks to the many donors and sponsors who have supported us over the years as well our Bright International programme (part of the trust’s charity which receives fundraising support specifically for our international partnership with KCMC).

No equipment is too big or small and over the years, we have shipped items including scanners, theatre trolleys and surgical tools as well as thousands of bags of medical supplies including dressings, syringes and mobility equipment to the hospital.

In 2014 we also set up ‘Knitted with Love’, a programme which sees volunteer knitters in the nearby communities of the trust knitting blankets and clothing for the hospital. The beautiful garments, each individually knitted with love, are presented to families at the hospital, providing a new mum and her baby comfort after childbirth or helping to ensure an elderly patient is kept warm, for example.
