Occupational therapy
Our occupational therapy service can help you to overcome or adapt to illness or disability. Our occupational therapists can support you to regain your independence in a number of ways and can give advice, arrange special equipment or adaptations to your home.
The team
The service combines health, social care and local authority staff including occupational therapists, technical instructors, occupational assessment officers, rehabilitation officers, occupational therapy assistants, adaptation and loan equipment service and support staff.
Accessing the service
If you live in North Tyneside, duty officers are the first point of contact if you wish to refer yourself or someone else in to the service. They can be contacted on 0191 643 2777.
If you live in Northumberland you should contact 01670 536 400 to arrange an assessment or to access further information about what support may be available.
If you’re receiving treatment in hospital you can be referred directly to a therapist by ward staff.
If you wish to contact the service for anything other than a referral you should contact Northumbria Healthcare on 0844 811 8111 and ask for occupational therapy at the hospital of your choice.
