Our multiple sclerosis (MS) specialist nurses provide support, advice, information, education and help if you are affected by MS. The service is available to anyone with a confirmed diagnosis of MS and you can either self refer or ask your GP, consultant neurologist or other health professional to refer you.

Drop-in sessions are held at local venues and by appointment at the MS Research and Relief Fund resource centre in Morpeth on the first Wednesday of every month. Details are below:

At Berwick Infirmary between 5.30pm and 8.30pm on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month (excluding bank holidays) you can meet with your MS Nurse, a neuro-physiotherapist, as well as having free complimentary therapies.

Your care

You can talk to the MS nurse for any question you may have about - whether it’s about symptoms, treatment or medication. You can also talk to them if you’re finding it difficult to cope with any aspect of your condition or for general information about MS.

Our service provides a range of support including:

• Courses for people who are newly diagnosed with MS which give an introduction to the condition, with speakers discussing various aspects of living with it 
• Nurse-led clinics dealing with problem-solving, assessment, lifestyle advice and support  
• Our nurses are present at consultant and multi-disciplinary clinics 
• Advice and support on managing your symptoms 
• Monitoring of disease modifying treatments  
• Home visits 
• Lifestyle advice   
• Telephone advice line 
• Referral to other services and support

The team

The team consists of healthcare professionals including MS nurses, district Nurse, your GP, rehabilitation consultant, physiotherapists and a continence specialist nurse.
