District nurse visits
If you need a visit at home, this will normally take place between 8am and 7pm Monday to Friday. Your needs will determine what time you are visited, for example if you need an injection at a certain time. If you need a visit outside of these times you will be visited by our out-of-hours team.
Your needs will be continually reviewed and assessed during the course of your treatment or care plan. You may be asked to attend your local GP practice to complete your treatment.
The team
Your local district nursing service is led by a community matron and may include a sister, staff nurses and health care assistants. The team works closely with your GP and other social and health care professionals.
Contacts
You can make contact with your local district nurse via your GP surgery.
If you need the services of a district nurse outside of normal working hours please call the out of hours district nurse service (provided through Northern Doctors Urgent Care) on 0300 123 1931.
